How to go about renting a property?

• Download and print a copy of the Tenant Application, carefully completing all the required information. Note that a copy of your identity document and payslip is required.
• If you have identified a property on the website, complete the details of this property (i.e. Reference Number) on your application. Contact the Agent to confirm if the property is still available, and to find out any additional information you require about the property.
• Also indicate the type of accommodation and suburbs your are interested in – this may assist the Agent in finding other accommodation for you if yopur preferred property is not available.
• Read the Lease Agreement and House and Safety Rules carefully – when you move into the property you are legally bound to follow these rules. If these rules do not suite you, do not apply for accommodation so as to avoid future problems and potentially having your lease cancelled.
• Fax the completed application and other documents to the Agent on the fax number provided, or deliver these documents in person to the Agent’s office.
• Tenants are notified as soon as their application is approved (usually with 3-7 days), and a proforma invoice is issued for the rental deposit (usually 1 ½ months rent) together with the first month’s rent in advance.
• As soon as you have paid the amount reflected on the proforma invoice, fax a copy of the deposit slip to the Agent with your details. All rental properties are allocated to tenants on a first come, first served basis, to the first tenant who pays the proforma invoice amount. The property is not secured by you until the Agent receives confirmation of payment of the full amount of the proforma invoice.
• Once you have secured the property by paying the proforma invoice amount, you can make arrangements with the Agent to collect the keys and sign the standard lease agreement.
